It's been a bit crazy being on the grind through setting up things for the BlackRadioIsBack.com Mixtapes of the Week section, juggling some new mixtape projects (be on the lookout for the BlackRadioIsBack.com/FuseBox Radio Broadcast mixtape project with Flipmode Squad's and H.A.T.E. Klub's Reek Da Villian and U.R.B.Z. - dropping sooner then you think), running around with the FuseBox Radio Broadcast and just life in general.

BlackRadioIsBack.com Video: Preview of CNN Presents: Black in America Documentaries "Black Woman & Family" and "The Black Man"

The family here over at BlackRadioIsBack.com and the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast has been hearing about the new entries of the cable channel CNN's recent documentary series hosted by reporter Soledad O'Brien, CNN Presents: Black in America covering the "Black Woman & Family" and "The Black Man" being in the works for quite a while.

We've checked out the previous documentary of this series CNN Presents: Black in America documentary Eyewitness to Murder: The King Assassination about the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. his legacy, death and aftereffects and feel that all things considred, it was a pretty quality piece of work.

With the topics of the "Black Woman & Family" and "The Black Man", I really hope that CNN - while probably one of the better U.S. based mainstream media (MSM) news organizations of attempting to be balanced in their journalism - knows they are tackling a VERY huge, complicated and sensitive subject matter in the next two days with these documentaries and don't fall into the simple patterns of stereotyping or fitting the folks in an ideological box (positive or negative).

We know here in the United States that while there has been progress in regards to race and class relations of all peoples, there is a VERY long way to go on a lot of levels and that Black People in America (and People of Color in general) are still looked at as the either the exotic or depraved "other" in regards to humanity at large far too often.

One can only hope that some form of enlightenment comes forth from this documentary for those who watch it, that there are good intentions behind these new entries of this documentary series, and that growth will occur through the conversations that are sure to come out afterwards.

CNN Presents: Black in America episode on "Black Woman & Family" premieres on July 23, 2008 and the episode on "The Black Man" premieres on July 24, 2008. Both documentaries start at 9pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) each day.

From the website, here is a brief description about the "Black Woman & Family" episode:

CNN Presents: Black in America continues with "The Black Woman & Family." Soledad O'Brien explores the varied experiences of black women and families and investigates the disturbing statistics of single parenthood, racial disparities between students and the devastating toll of HIV/AIDS. O'Brien reports on the progress of black women in the workplace and the status of the black middle class.

And here is the brief description about "The Black Man" episode:

In the "The Black Man," Soledad O'Brien evaluates the state of black men in America and explores the controversial topics of black men and fatherhood; disparities between blacks and whites in educational, career and financial achievement; and factors leading to the dramatic rates of black male incarceration. The documentary also examines the achievements of black men and the importance of the positive influences of black fathers.

Happy Friday to our readers here at BlackRadioIsBack.com and the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast!

Durham, North Carolina Hip-Hop MC, Morehouse College gradate, radio personality and Adjunct Assistant Professor of the Practice at Duke University in the Department of Music (where he designed and teaches a course on Hip-Hop/Rap Music appreciation), J. Bully (formerly known as Jugga the Bully back in the late 1990s) has been grinding for a minute.

Through his history of being a part of high profile MC Battles (Blaze Magazine, former Source Magazine Atlanta MC Battle Champ, and a standout performer on BET's 106&Park Freestyle Friday in 2003), having a single that hit the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B Sales Charts in 2002 ("Ridiculous" b/w "Y'all Know" that was produced by Nitti, the creator of Boyz N Da Hood's hit single "Them Boyz"), a controversial single back in the late 1990s calling out New York City's DJ Clue ("F*** Clue") and his constant grind of releasing singles and mixtapes, J. Bully has been making himself heard loudly in the local North & South Carolina scenes and internationhally.

Now with The Mogul Group (which folks joined in in 2006), J. Bully has a lot of projects coming out to showcase his brand of "Educated Thug Music), including an upcoming full album dropping this year with fellow N.C. producer K. Hill (Bully-Hill) and other projects with songs in the works that include production with 9th Wonder, 88 Keyz, Ski Beatz, DJ Toomp and others.

If you are in the New York City area this Saturday, July 12, 2008, hit up Streets Mos Magazine's 5th Annual Street Conference over at the National Black Theatre in Harlem.

From 6 pm until closing, there are going to be a lot of quality Hip-Hop, Latin and Soul Music performances and panels for good music industry information and whatnot.

Some of my peoples in New Jersey from Still Standing Productions directed and acted in this short film about the "interesting" affects of smoking weed/marijuana/grass/whatever you like to call it in your circle of folks.

It's called Munchies (title pretty much gives things away, doesn't it - heh).

The movie descrption is mad to the point:

A group of serious potheads gather for a friends birthday party only to discover there's no food.

To save folks from getting in trouble at the 9 to 5, its a bit NSFW due to language (not safe for work).

What's good everyone,

Over here at the blog home of the FuseBox Radio Broadcast, BlackRadioIsBack.com, we're going to start up a monthly section to recommend various websites that we run into in our internet travels.

If you are interested in being considered for this section, please feel free to contact us at blackradioisback@gmail.com with the subject header "BlackRadioIsBack.com Recommended Website Consideration".

The first website we're going to recommend is FreeDocumentaries.org. This is a great site founded by an up-and-coming non-profit organization where they recieve permission from various directors to stream video up their full documentary films for free to get different information and outreach to the people.

Let me state that again: you get to check out full movies, for free, that aren't stupid, with some knowledge base, not boring, on the internet, legally. Nice.

The documentaries offered on the site cover various diverse topics such as 9/11, world activism, election fraud, globalization, health issues, human rights, media, war, slavery, the enviornment, social issues and more.

For myself, being a big history and sociology sort of person, this site is cool to check out some of these movies I never had a chance to catch up with as well as being a huge free preview site for whether I would like to purchase the DVDs (which the site also provides sales links as well to support) and checking out the origin websites for the documentaries.

From the most independent filmaker to the more well known documentary directors and organziations (Michael Moore, Morgan Spurlock, the Guerilla News Network, etc.), there is a lot of interesting material up on here to absorb, get you thinking (if not agreeing) and spend some time with.

You can also recommended documentaries and people for the site to reach out to to keep the momentum going on this project.

When you're there and can afford it, since they host the videos on their own dime, feel free to hit the FreeDocumentaries.org folks with a little donation.
