This is a trailer for the movie, Electric Purgatory: The Fate of The Black Rocker.
Like AfroPunk, this documentary looks like some real talk about how the music industry still has a hard time accepting Black People doing Rock Music (and actually getting the worthwhile money recognition, etc. from it) though the music came from the Black Music Tradition.
This film features interviews from folks in the Black Music Industry and Black Rock such as Angelo Moore, Vernon Reid, Cody Chesnutt, Burnt Sugar,God Forbid, 24-7 Spyz, Doug Pinnick, Spacey T, The Soul of John Black, Jonah Matranga, Nayrok, and ?uestlove.
There is also pretty cool performance footage of Black Rock heads like Fishbone, Living Colour, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, God Forbid, Weapon of Choice, and Sound Barrier.
Screenings are happening and being arranged all over the United States - if you want to do one or know an organization that does, hit them up on their websites.
Hopefully, this means that soon we'll have more showings of this and some DVD releases so people can get to know a little more what's good with the Black Experience and Rock Music.
