The UK R&B music group Hil St. Soul (pronounced Hill Street Soul), consisting of singer Hilary Mwelwa and producer Victor Redwood Sawyerr - founder of the UK hip hop group Blak Twang - have their 3rd album, Black Rose, coming out on Shanachie Entertainment on June 10, 2008.

I was really feeling the last 2 albums they put out (2004's Copasetik & Cool & Cool and 2006's SOULidified) and don't think folks will fall off with this one.

Check out the music tracks from the upcoming album below and let me know what you think:

Hey everyone,

Here's the video for the latest Busta Rhymes single, "We Made It", featuring rock group Linkin Park.

Personally, this doesn't do as much for me at all as much as the first single he dropped from his upcoming album this summer, "Don't Touch Me" , but I guess if you like the basic Rock/Rap Music fusion, it's aiight.

Perhaps it'll grow on me in time, who knows...

What do you all think?

What's good everyone,

Folks here at and the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast are back again to jump off with some new and classic mixtape posts for y'all. :)

This is our weekly section where hits up the people some more some free promotional mixtapes and mixtape podcasts for download that are pretty on point - not just from the FuseBox Radio/ crew, but from all over the place.

To all of my peoples who hit me with hard copies or e-mails of mixtape and mixshow submissions, suggestions, websites and bootleg men (yes, for real, those "hit up so and so for the hot s***" info dropped on me) of various mixtape releases, I thank y'all a lot for supporting this venture.

So your blank CDs ready for these five joints (it's been a long week and I'm about to be out of town for the next few days, so it's a little less than usual) and support the local mixtape bootleg man/mom and pop store, DJ, website, etc.

For my DJs, if you do good mixtapes of Hip-Hop, Soul, Rock, House, Reggae, Classics or are a music artist with your mixtape album out you don't mind having posted as promo on the web, feel free to hit the family up at with a link to your mixtape with cover and tracklisting - hopefully, we'll put your joint up on here in the future.

NOTE (as always):

PLEASE don't send me no B.S. with folks:

A. Yelling loud as hell over the song on some fake DJ Clue/DJ Kay Slay/DJ Khaled/Funkmaster Flex ish and I can't hear the damned song but 10 seconds of it (mics have volume control...thanks)

B. Mixtape "exclusives" that are on the radio - if its dope its dope, don't need the fake labeling

C. Overall wackness

* NOTE - These mixtapes are dirty versions, no radio edits! *

Check The Mixtape Of The Week Archives when you get a chance!

What's the deal my peoples,

From my St. Louis DJ family, DJ Trackstar, over here at and the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast, we have the latest music project from independent Hip-Hop MC, NYOIL.

This is a very dope project with how the songs are set up as well as the message (since we know sometimes, that can get lost in the sauce in regards to quality when you try to get Hip-Hop joints in this modern day era to have a little substance to them) - the brother know he is still making MUSIC for heads to get into in conjunction with everything else.

Check it out, download and hope you enjoy!

Brockton, Massachusetts Soul Music singer, Noel Gourdin, had his project put on hold for a minute for various reasons for the past few years.

Now, after getting great feedback from various listeners through growing mainstream, internet and college (the first folks to get a taste of his music) radio airplay for the Kay Gee (Divine Mill) track "The River", he's slated to finally drop the full length album, After My Time, in the summer of 2008.

After My Time from the samples I heard should be a pretty fire project, especially with production with folks like Raphael Saadiq (D’Angelo/Angie Stone), Mike City (Brandy/Sunshine Anderson), Dre & Vidal (Jill Scott), Butta (Usher), Eddie F (Heavy D), Kay Gee (Jaheim/Naughty By Nature) and more.

The great Soul Music group Shalamar consisted of vocalists Jody Watley, Jeffrey Daniel, and Howard Hewett (the latter replacing short-time member Gerald Brown) and formed officially in 1978.

The group hooked up with legendary R&B producer Leon Sylvers III in 1979 and after signing with SOLAR Records, scored a major hit in the U.S. with "The Second Time Around" (Billboard #1 US R&B, #8 U.S. Pop).

In the U.K., Shalamar had a string of hits with songs such as "Take That To The Bank" (1978), "I Owe You One" (1980) and "I Can Make You Feel Good", "A Night to Remember", "There It Is" and "Friends" (all in 1982).

The Friends album (1982) was also a big release in the U.K. which crossed the genres of Pop, Disco and Soul music.

Both Jody Watley and Jeffery Daniel left Shalamar over artistic arguments with the SOLAR record label, shortly after the release of the The Look album in 1983.

While the album still did well in the U.S. and U.K. with a change in musical direction (more of a New Wave/Rock oriented direction) on point tracks like "Disappearing Act", "Dead Giveaway" and "Over And Over", it wasn't as big of a success as Friends.

In the mid-1980s, there was a line-up change of new vocalists for the group, adding on Delisa Davis and Micki Free. Shalamar was still able to score some hits in that era with "Dancing In The Sheets" (from the Footloose movie soundtrack) and winning a Grammy for "Don't Get Stopped In Beverly Hills" from the Beverly Hills Cop movie soundtrack in 1985.

When Howard Hewett left for a solo career in 1986, and was replaced by Sydney Justin, the band faded into obscurity.

All of the original members came to have varying degrees of longterm success throughout the years as solo music artists.

The most successful in the mainstream Soul Music world of the classic trio with their solo career was Jody Watley, who, with former Prince sidekick André Cymone, found success with her own albums and singles, which include "Looking For A New Love" (1987), "Friends" (1989; including the remix with legendary MCs Eric B. & Rakim) and "When A Man Loves A Woman" (1994).

There also a Shalamar reunion with all 3 original members for the R&B singer Babyface's cover version of the Shalamar hit "For The Lover In You" with LL Cool J in 1996.

Shalamar overall scored a total of three gold albums in America with Big Fun, Three For Love (which eventually went platinum over time) and Friends.

This music video right here is just a HOT A** MESS that makes any of the Crank Dat [fill in the blank] videos and the old BET Uncut music roster look like tapings of a sophisticated night at the ballet directed by Martin Scorese.

If this gets on BET, MTV, major radio stations, etc. in serious rotation, we are truly at the End of Days with Black Music for just some of the following reasons (which you will get once folk peep this):

1. The main people popping it doing the dance are a big Shim (and the hook, Lawd), your drunk aunties, random folks at the family reunion/street corner and what looks like an 8 year old. SMH

2. WTF is a Poak Chop?! The Higher Power Be A Spell Check...

3. MS Paint '98 font

4. These classic lines in the song: “Shake yo poak chops, work ya ham hocks, tho them butta beans" and “I don’t like chicks that is sadiddy, I like my poak chops exkra crispy?”

5. Filming this video on the leftover remains of what looks like "The Color Purple"/"Porgy and Bess" movie set

6. Reading the credits...

I'm a little upset that I have to give folks props that the beat is kind of decent and may get stuck in my head for a minute.

Thank my peoples over at Oh Hell Nawl for finding this, having my eyes rest upon it and spreading the comedy/love/hate around today with this joint and let me know what you think...
