R.I.P. to Writer and Soul Music Artist Stephen "Static" Garrett
Stephen "Static" Garrett (November 11, 1974 – February 25, 2008)
R.I.P. to another talented young man (who's passing at 33 years old of a brain aneurysm was a great shock) whos strong contributions to 20th century modern era Black Music will be deeply missed.
After his start with the 1990s R&B group Playa, Stephen "Static" Garrett used his skills in writing to be the creative force behind any of the great R&B and Soul Music hits of the 1990s, including songs by Ginuwine ("Pony"), Nas ("You Owe Me") and Jay-Z ("Change The Game") and Aaliyah ("Are You That Somebody," "Try Again," "More Than A Woman" and "Rock The Boat").
He also did collaborative work with artists like Pretty Ricky, David Banner, Diddy, Brandy, Jamie Foxx, Destiny's Child, Timbaland & Magoo and Truth Hurts.
Static was also about to release an album this year, Suppertime, as Static/Major and had the single "I Got My" featuring Lil Wayne starting to climb the charts.
The BlackRadioIsBack.com family extends our condolences to his family, friends and fans.
