On the evening of Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, the FuseBox Radio Broadcast and BlackRadioIsBack.com family attended the "Paris Is Burning: Celebrating 25 Years...The Book...The Film...The Ball" event over at the Human Rights Council Building in Washington, DC.
The night's events was a celebration of the high regarded documentary Paris Is Burning (which is still available to watch via Netflix), which covered the Harlem Drag Ball scene of the late 1980s to early 1990s.
A viewing of the documentary happened along with a panel/Q&A session featuring author Dr. Lucas Hilderbrand of the book "Paris Is Burning" along with 2 of the film's cast members (Sol Williams Pendarvis and Freddie Pendarvis) & various members of the black D.C. LGTBQ activism & performance arenas about the impact of the movie from past to present.
After a cocktail reception, the evening closed out with a Mini Ball hosted by Rayceen Pendarvis with music spun by DJ Vjuan Allure judged by the night's panel and special guests.
