What's good everyone,

Folks here at BlackRadioIsBack.com and the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast are back again to jump off with some new and classic mixtape posts for y'all. :)

This is our weekly section where BlackRadioIsBack.com hits up the people some more some free promotional mixtapes and mixtape podcasts for download that are pretty on point - not just from the FuseBox Radio/BlackRadioIsBack.com crew, but from all over the place.

To all of my peoples who hit me with hard copies or e-mails of mixtape and mixshow submissions, suggestions, websites and bootleg men (yes, for real, those "hit up so and so for the hot s***" info dropped on me) of various mixtape releases, I thank y'all a lot for supporting this venture.

So your blank CDs ready for these ten joints and support the local mixtape bootleg man/mom and pop store, DJ, website, etc.

For my DJs, if you do good mixtapes of Hip-Hop, Soul, Rock, House, Reggae, Classics or are a music artist with your mixtape album out you don't mind having posted as promo on the web, feel free to hit the BlackRadioIsBack.com family up at blackradioisback@gmail.com with a link to your mixtape with cover and tracklisting - hopefully, we'll put your joint up on here in the future.

NOTE (as always):

PLEASE don't send me no B.S. with folks:

A. Yelling loud as hell over the song on some fake DJ Clue/DJ Kay Slay/DJ Khaled/Funkmaster Flex ish and I can't hear the damned song but 10 seconds of it (mics have volume control...thanks)

B. Mixtape "exclusives" that are on the radio - if its dope its dope, don't need the fake labeling

C. Overall wackness

* NOTE - These mixtapes are dirty versions, no radio edits! *

Check The BlackRadioIsBack.com Mixtape Of The Week Archives when you get a chance!

Um....wow at this The Boondocks cartoon clip getting all up in B.E.T. (Black Entertainment Television) and it's programming.

Supposedly, due to creator Aaron McGruder and other folks getting real hardcore on this one, the episode that this was supposed to be on has been banned or delayed from being broadcast on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim program block.

This joint is NSFW (Not Safe For Work) Of Course, but mad funny (well, would be mad scary if this WAS happening behind closed doors with some corporate Black Folks)...

To counterbalance the train wreck that Flavor Flav's next reality show, Flavor of Love 3, looks like is going to be, I just wanted to do a flashback from definitively the BEST message/conscious Hip-Hop group of all time to the present, Public Enemy.

Editor's Note O' Disclosure: I HAVE watched earlier incarnations of the show before and even enjoyed it, but frankly, its just gotten to be a bit wack and stale, even without all of the crazy racial undertones the joint has of possible all sexes coonery of why maybe I shouldn't watch. I'm no prude and think that we all know "reality" TV is pretty much that B.S. anyway for guilty pleasure watching.

Public Enemy is the Hip-Hop Long Island, NY group started out in the 1980s with MC Chuck D, MC/Hypeman Flavor Flav, Minister of Information Professor Griff, DJ Terminator X, the SW1s and great sample-heavy production by the Bomb Squad (Hank & Keith Shocklee and Eric "Vietnam" Sadler).

"Give It Up" was on the next to last album (the last one was the sountrack to the Spike Lee Movie, He Got Game), Muse Sick-N-Hour Mess Age, that Public Enemy did on the Def Jam label before going independent with the founding of the Slamjamz label. Through Slamjamz, Public Enemy was one of the first labels to hit the digitial distribution route with sales of mp3s.

This history of P.E. is VERY deep from triumphs to controversies, but they're still putting out solid albums and touring to this day.

Check out the video and enjoy! :)

What's going on E-Peoples,

Here is a new music video from latest single from Hip-Hop MC John Robinson (a.k.a. Lil' Sci from Scienz of Life) off of the Beatvizon Label (the digital counterpart of Shaman Work Recordings), "The Makings Of U", from the upcoming The John Robinson Project album.

I think there is a cool vibe and the video is pretty on point - what do y'all think?

Since MySpace has pretty much become an important part of music artists promoting themselves (if for no other reason, its free to setup something that looks decent and can play your music to the masses), BlackRadioIsBack.com and the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast has started going a weekly segment where we highlight eight music artists who do we personally feel are on point doing quality Black Music of various genres.

Folks over here are pretty much on MySpace every day checking artists out, but if you feel we're missing you, hit us up at the BlackRadioIsBack.com MySpace Page or at our e-mail at blackradioisback@gmail.com.

We have some sample music tracks from each BlackRadioIsBack.com MySpace 8 artist up on here now for folks to listen to - check out their MySpace pages for more cool joints and other information.

Here we go - hope you enjoy the music on here and can support these and other worthy music artists on the scene:

Kokayi
Genre: Hip-Hop/Jazz
MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/kokayi

Washington, DC MC and Producer Kokayi's style is a crazy blend of Jazz and Hip-Hop fusion styles that he's had in the mix since his work with the crew Opus Akoben from it's formation through the Freestyle Union (the organization founded in 1994 by Toni Blackman and Monty Tafin) the 1990s.

Kokayi has worked with artists such as DJ/Producer Sharkey and C-Rayz Walz for their upcoming album release “Monster Maker” (Babygrande Records), Soul music singer Wayna and plenty of other folks.

He now as a great CD currently available called Mass Instructions on his label Pho13Music. Besides our favorite track from the Mass Instructions album, DCB, check out "Knowusmayne" and "Gamesteady" on his MySpace page for some quality bangers.

Kokayi - DCB

Hevewae
Genre: Hip-Hop
MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/theundergroundbeast

Hevewae (a.k. Mr. DMV) is another Washington, DC area Hip-Hop MC who's music is in the realm of what is known in the region as Crank Muzik - what I look at as more 21st Century Forward Crunk Hip-Hop style of vibe. I've seen his releases, promotions and things out heavy while doing my travels around the DC Metro area and checked out the MySpace page.

The bro definitely has some energetic, tear the club up street Hip-Hop music going on that I think can fit in with any of the lastest Southern Hip-Hop joints on blast on the radio and video channels now and hopefully, this young bro can get signed and/or some solid distribution with someone who's quality to get the music out there to more of the masses.

Check out the "What It Do Moe" single featuring Babylon from this upcoming street album release in March 2008, "The Ill" to get a gauge on where folks are at that we chose here over at BlackRadioIsBack.com and also give a listen to "Hood Pride" on the MySpace page.

Hevewae feat. Babylon - What It Do Moe

Donnie
Genre: Soul
MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/donniemusic

I personally been following Atlanta Soul artist and songwriter Donnie since he had the album release for his first insanely cool album The Colored Section on Giant Step records around 2001-2002 (it was re-released on Motown Records in 2003 and in my personal opinion, was promoted terribly by the label).

He has an old school soul vibe with his music (some folks I think would think of a Stevie Wonder or Donnie Hathaway), but he's definitely a modern day hard hitting topical brother with the things he talks about on his songs (everything from Hurricane Katrina, love, the "legal" drug industry, racism, etc.) and is able to balance that out with great grooves and not coming off as overly preachy.

Folks over here chose "Impatient People" from his latest album, The Daily News, to give a sample of his flavor of music - also check out "911" on Donnie's MySpage page.

Donnie - Impatient People

Spoonface
Genre: Electronica/Folk/Indie
MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/spoonface1

UK Producer Spoonface has a focus on all kinds of Dance Music - Eletronica, House, Soul, Dub, Drum & Bass, Broken Beat and Nu-Jazz just to name a few genres.

Through his record label, FAADA (Forever And Always Diverse Appreciation), he puts out various releases by himself and other groups to span these Black Music genres for some quality "four on the floor" joints to get people on the floor to groove and shake off the wallflower syndrome that seems to happen to some heads in the club.

Check out this release from Spoonface feat. Baby below, "Nah Nah", and "See Me Now" and "Circus World" on his MySpage page.

Spoonface feat. Baby - Nah Nah

Traedonya
Genre: Trip Hop/Soul/Electronica
MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/traedonya

France via New York City Music Artist Traedonya has a very extensive history in the realm of Black Music - from performing with jazz greats like Etta James to being a recording artist of the old school Hip-Hop Tuff City Records label and beginning member of the Blackwatch Movment and Hip-Hop crew the X-Clan.

Now, through her own company, Prohibition Entertainment, she is releasing some very interesting music joints that are a blend of Electronica, Soul and Rock music.

We chose the international single "Beloved" for folks to groove off of Traedonya's creativity. Also check out the live version of "Addicted" on the MySpace.

Traedonya - Beloved (Original UK Version)

Red
Genre: Rock/Glam/Pop Punk
MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/redmusik

Red is a UK Rock trio formed in 2001 of lead vocalist and guitar player CoCo, bass player and vocalalist Luna and drummer Chi after a meeting among mutual friends.

They have shades of folks from Minnie Riperton to Led Zeppelin as musical influences, so you know that their music is going to be far from boring and ordinary.

BlackRadioIsBack.com chose Red's "Her" as a foundation to get where they are coming from with the music. On the MySpace page, "Reality" and "Kiss My PBA" are cool joints was well.

Red - Her

Cindy Blackman
Genre: Jazz/Experimental/Rock

Cindy Blackman is a talented Rock, Funk and Jazz drummer who has officially worked, recorded and toured with famous Black Rock musician Lenny Kravitz since 1993 as well as session work with music artists such as George Benson, Angela Bofil, Al B. Sure, Jackie McLean, & Joss Stone amongst others.

Stephcynie Curry
Genre: R&B/Rock
MySpace Page: http://www.myspace.com/stephcyniecurry

Stephcynie Curry is an up and coming New York via Texas singer who has done background vocal work for artists such as Hidden Beach's Lina and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree In Jazz Vocals from the prestigious New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City.

This talented unsigned artist's vocal flows from Jazzy Soul to more hard edgy grooves and sounds. Hopefully though hard work and grind, we'll be seeing more of this young sister's work for the masses to hear in the future.

Check out one of our favorite tracks from Stephcynie, "Save My Love" - also check the great track "Struggle" on her MySpace page.

Hope that the weekend has gone well for everyone. :)

Here is the new video for the single, "Honey" from Erykah Badu's upcoming album release that should be dropping this year.

I like the video concept (how many album covers do you think folks were using on this joint) and the music (only recently learned this joint was produced by brother who's lately on fire with his, 9th Wonder), what do you all think?

I guess my generation had the Kirk Franklin's, Mary Mary and other folks incorporate popular music into gospel to reach the youth to get to reach belief in a Higher Power and I got this video showing the new age of folks doing this...

I'm curious, what do y'all think? It's interesting on multiple levels, I'll say that...

While going through the drafts of articles here BlackRadioIsBack.com, I realized that I was late (very late) with posting up information about this event that the FuseBox Radio/BlackRadioIsBack.com crew attended around October 2007.

While in Washington, DC visiting family, folks hit up the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Weekend events at the Washington Convention Center. Amongst a lot of the regular panels, exhibits, job fairs and other events going on those few days, the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) came through as a stop with their Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment Tour. This was the event was the one that the BlackRadioIsBack.com crew saw the most young people (I would say 30 years old and below) attending and seemed to have the most impact on its intended audience.

A lot of good and direct information, from both personal and indirect experience, was given out about how to avoid certain financial situations early (overuse of credit cards, loans, living beyond one's means, etc.) as well as the importance of saving and investing funds for whatever goals people have for themselves, whether starting up their own business to obtaining a home.

The folks who were at the panel all also recieved a free "Get Your Money Right" workbook from HSAN to use towards helping them with their financial goals (which is also available for download here).

There was a packed house for the event for the Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment, which included a diverse group of panelists such as entrepreneur Russell Simmons, activist Ben Chavis, Hip-Hop MCs Bun B of UGK and Big Daddy Kane (who brought his son along), R&B Stars Lyfe Jennings Mya and Lil' Mo and BET 106 & Park Co-Host Terrence J as well as representatives from Chrysler Financial.

Here are some pictures below of the event and the red carpet beforehand that were taken by the BlackRadioIsBack.com family - enjoy!
