Happy Thanksgiving (the day to be thankful for what you have, not that B.S. bigging up the Pilgrims for being part of U.S. colonialism, wiping out a lot of our Native American brother and sisters and whatnot) from the BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast Family to all of the folks who have supported us and we are thankful to have in our corner:

* family (of course)

* friends (true friends are like family)

* all of our readers and listeners who supported the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast since 1998 and beyond and starting reading this site over a year ago

* all of the folks who continue to make great Black Music of all genres for us to give props to and enjoy

* our forefathers in both the Black Media and Independent Media spectrum from all over the world who encourage us in our mission

* fellow bloggers, DJs and radio shows who have helped us grow with great advice and music

* those who have been gracious in extending great building on business and stuff with us

* "haters" (would like to think of a better term but can't right now) who keep us on our toes to be even more successful

* folks I can't think of at the present who are great supporters :)

Enjoy your weekend - I'm going to get ready to try to swipe a piece of Mama Fusion's Sweet Potato Pie now...Peace!

This is the FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of November 26, 2008 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul music, news and commentary.

This week's commentary was on the passing of MC Breed, things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving (even though the background history of the holiday here in the U.S. is messed up), the specter of race and class issues with the recent vote on California's Proposition 8 and some other things here and there.

We had an interview this week with DJ Cool V of Trunk Hustlers Online and Cool V's Rated Next about the music industry in general, his history in the business as a DJ and entrepreneur, his non-profit organization and more!

Due to our interview during this week's extended radio show of the FuseBox Radio Broadcast (4 hours), we do not have a new Direct EFX or Black Agenda Report segment this week.

Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast here on BlackRadioIsBack.com - all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.

Rapper MC Breed dies at friend's home at age 37
18 hours ago

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — It was in the gritty, blue-collar city of Flint that Eric Breed grew up amid the dimming opportunities of a declining auto industry.

That starkness was vivid in the lyrics of what would be the rapper's biggest hit, 1991's "Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'."

Breed, known professionally as MC Breed, died Saturday at a friend's home in Ypsilanti, about 30 miles southwest of Detroit, a Washtenaw County medical examiner's spokesman said Monday.

Toxicology reports were pending, but no foul play was suspected in the 37-year-old's death.

Breed had suffered from kidney failure, according to The Detroit News and The Flint Journal.

"More than just an artist, we mourn the loss of a beloved father, son, brother and friend," his family said in a statement. "We are thankful and blessed to have been in his presence and want him to be remembered for his creative, caring, talented and hardworking spirit."

Breed released 13 albums from 1991 to 2004, and collaborated with artists such as Tupac Shakur and Too Short.

He moved to Atlanta in the 1990s, but always identified with his tough Flint roots.

The lyrics from "Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'" included: "I'm from F-l-i-n-t'n. A city where pity runs low. If you ever shoot through my city, now you know. Cause we are strictly business and we also got our pride, and if you don't like it, I suggest you break wide."

The single was from his first album, "MC Breed & DFC," which sold between 2.5 million to 4 million copies.

Breed was a "musical legend of Flint," said Carter McWright, owner of local record store Music Planet.

"One thing about Breed is he had that flow, that rhythm," McWright said. "He knew how to flow with it."

Funeral arrangements were being completed Monday in Flint.

Breed is survived by three daughters and two sons; his parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Condolences from the BlackRadioIsBack.com & FuseBox Radio Broadcast family to his family, friends and fans - another great Hip-Hop MC has been lost.

My people's Tha Takeover Productions and DJ Mr. King in Ohio are holding this event right before Thanksgiving Weekend, so for our BlackRadioIsBack.com readers and FuseBox Radio Broadcast listeners in that area, go out if you can and support a good cause!

Check out the press release below for more information:

In their continuing effort to increase community involvement in the city of Akron, Tha Takeover Productions and DJ Mr. King will be hosting its First Annual "Strikes For Hunger" Charity Bowling outing, November 26, 2008 at AMF Riviera Lanes located at 20 South Miller Road in Fairlawn, Ohio from 10pm-2am.

Through the "Strikes for Hunger" campaign, Tha Takeover Productions are looking to raise more than $1,000 in food an donations, which will be given to ACCESS Inc. Battered Women's Shelter.

In addition to the bowling outing, the event will also contain a live DJ as well as a community casino night where patrons can enjoy card, billiards and arcade games.

Freddy Robertson, co-CEO of Tha Takeover Production, said his company chose ACCESS Inc. as its charity to donate to because of its significance to develop and strengthen single parent households.

"Being raised in a single parent home, I am able to relate to the struggles of a woman making sacrifices for the well being of her child," said Robertson, a 24-year-old graduate of The Ohio State University.

"It was the will of strong women that not only pushed me along, but my partners as well. We were all able to gradute from college and are doing out best to provide our community with positive role models. Giving back to a charity that looks to assist the family "make-up" that we are products of is very fulfilling."

Patrons are encouraged to bring at least five (5) canned food goods or non-perishable items during the night of the event. Admission starts at $10.

For more information contact Tha Takeover Productions contact Fred 330-701-7891 or via email at thatakeoverproductions@gmail.com.

What's good BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast Fam,

We're going to give you a little bit of music and things from Wu-Tang Clan affiliate folks today, especially with that Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang Clan documentary dropping on DVD today to the masses (which by the way is absolutely fantastic, even if you're not the biggeest fan of the Hip-Hop crew).

Staten Island, New York Hip-Hop MC 9th Prince is the brother of the RZA and one of the founding members of Wu-Tang Clan affiliate group Killarmy.

Having been on the grind for a while with that crew as well as various solo releases (the last official of which was the Granddaddy Flow album in 2003), mixtapes and guest appearances on various releases from Wu-Tang Clan members and fellow independent Hip-Hop heads, 9th Prince has a brief stint of being incarcarated when the first version of Prince of New York dropped earlier this year.

Now, this album has been re-released this past week through Armyourself Entertainment & Babygrande Records with a lot of extra tracks and bonuses up in the mix for folks to get into.

In our personal opinion, 9th Prince's project is Hip-Hop not just for those who are fans of the Wu-Tang Clan's style of Hip-Hop (especially the older works), but it's also for Hip-Hop heads who like that 1990s NYC Street Hip-Hop sound and vibe.

Over here, the BlackRadioIsBack.com family are good with the vast majority of Prince of New York (liked to loved 13 out of 17 tracks) and enjoyed it as a solid and quality independent Hip-Hop release.

Check out the free 9th Prince downloads provided below of the single "Bottomline" (with the video below) and one of BlackRadioIsBack.com's favorite joints from the album, "The Writer", along with the tracklisting for the album and some extra music videos from Back in the Day.

Let us know what you think and enjoy!

Grace Jones - the overall kind of crazy (mostly in a good way) New Wave, Funk & Disco Music Artist and Actress - has just had a new album last week under my radar called Hurricane on the Wall of Sound label.

So far, it's only out as an import release (boo) and is the first offical album released by her in over 19 years (2 albums during that time were never released and shelved).

The producer line up looks absolutely crazy on point with work behind the boards being put in by Sly and Robbie, Tricky and Brian Eno, amongst other folks.

Here is the Grace Jones' first single and video from the Hurricane album, "Corporate Cannibal".

In my opinion, it's typical Grace Jones - good groove, a little off kilter w/ the lyrics and humour, wild and a wee bit scary (both the song and the video).

In other words, Black Music that is not the same ol' same ol' or boring - thank goodness.

Give the music video a look for yourself as well grabbing up as the mp3 download - let us know what you think....

What's good folks,

The BlackRadioIsBack.com and FuseBox Radio Broadcast family recieved this dope new music video from Washington DC's (via Togo & LA) own tabi Bonney, who along with independent Hip-Hop MCs like Wale and many others are starting to make noise on the national and international scenes for the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virigina) area.

This video for "Beat Rock" is giving love to my home DMV area and features guest appearances from other folks from around that way like Angel Lola Luv, Anwan Glover (Slim Charles from HBO's The Wire), Raheem DeVaughn and more.

tabi Bonney had a cool album out around 2006 called A Fly Guy's Theme that "Beat Rock" was featured on with some other cool tracks (my personal favorite was "Lunchin") and now has an album dropping called Dope meet Fresh…Fresh meet Superstar for folks to look forward to sometime in 2009.
