After being on break for the past week, we had a lot of commentary to catch up with on this week's show, focusing on the latest updates with the Bishop Eddie Long scandal, why the pledged money from the U.S. government for Haiti's post-earthquake recovery has not been released at ALL yet, some pre-BET Hip-Hop Awards commentary based off of the Twitter feedback, the new season TV One music documentary series UnSung, the passing of classic 1970s/1980s S.O.L.A.R. Records label head Dick Griffey and other things here and there.
We also had a fantastic interview of the Fall 2010 season with the internationally known former pimp turned extremely successful straight businessman, author (Pimpology: The 48 Laws of the Game - Simon & Schuster, 2008) & consultant Ken Ivy a.k.a. Pimpin' Ken (http://www.PimpinKen.net; http://www.PimpCollege.com).
We touched base on a variety of topics including Mr. Ivey's past history, trials and tribulations, his current business ventures (the online "Pimp College", an upcoming book and more), building with & educating the young Black generations from the streets on upward, how mainstream America sleeps on Black Men in professions they don't necessarily want them in, the power of the Internet with business & music promotion and some other things here and there.
