For those not familiar with the festival or organization, the Broccoli City Lifestyle Group's mission since 2009 has been to develop strategies & programming to educate and empower multicultural communities to live more healthier and more sustainable lifestyles through media outreach, partnerships with other organizations and more.
Throughout the day, there were a lot of great music acts from all over the U.S. representing independent & mainstream Hip-Hop, Soul, Electro, DC Go-Go and more from all over the U.S. that kept the crowd happily bouncing (literally and otherwise) along with local & national vendors selling all sorts of cool items & food, various organizations giving out information and exercise sessions along with other types of action on the Pavilion.
Overall, the Broccoli City Festival was a great inclusive (& REALLY inexpensive) enjoyable community event that was safe & fun for everyone that pulled off the rare combination of entertainment and education that wasn't on the extremes of being overly preachy or just a bunch of slick surface talk. I hope they'll have more events like this in the D.C. Metro for years to come.
