The Mixtape Awards was established in 1995 by Orpheous "Justo" Faison, to celebrate, appreciate and award Mixtape DJs for their accomplishments within the recording industry.

To continue Justo Faison’s legacy and help cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the Disc Jockey - from the club and radio DJ to platinum selling artists signed to major record labels.
The Mixtape Awards is designed to honor the DJs and Artists who consistently raise the bar in creativity, popularity and representation within the music industry.
The Mixtape Awards accomplishes its mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry, cultural community and the general public as well.
